Tyler Mcallister Essay In the last few years he has been in and out of more allergy doctor offices than he can count. Not to mention the fact that he has nightmares ever since his father died. If that werent enough, his mother and brother are both successful movie stars who are often off on location for long periods of time. The last thing he wanted was to go to a forbidden quarry and find a dead body. But that is exactly what happens to him while there with his friend Lymie. This is just the beginning of bad luck for a boy named Tyler McAllister. Tyler McAllister is very skinny and weak. Mostly because he is a vegetarian. He has a very rebellious nature. This could possibly be caused by not having his mom and brother there as much as he wants. It’s very strange that he rebels because he dislikes trouble. But he does in fact like solving mysteries. Believing in justice is one reason that Tyler likes solving mysteries. If you try to go against the law you must be punished for it. Another reason is when he starts at something he must finish it. Through almost the entire story Tyler is solving little mysteries that lead up to solving the biggest mystery of all. Who killed the janitor Bobby? For a kid who doesn’t like trouble, lately he has been getting in it a lot. He’s discovered places that he probably should not have been in. Like the forbidden quarry where he found the janitor’s body. He even got sent to the principal’s office for talking back to the teacher after falling asleep in class. Tyler McAllister is a skinny, rebellious, mystery solving guy. Who doesn’t take no for an answer. His personality helps him solve the mystery of Bobby’s death. Some Moral Minima Essay -- Analysis, Lenn Goodman

In the article â€Å"Some Moral Minima† I believe Lenn Goodman is right when he says certain things are just wrong. Goodman discusses that every human has a right to live in freedom and to be treated compassionately as human beings. I think that Goodman’s main point is not to judge issues that we do not understand, but should judge things that are ethically correct. Goodman is correct on his issues because there is never a good time to be immoral. I believe that all law abiding citizens have the right to live their lives without fear. Criminals do not have the right to commit disruptive acts of crime. According to Goodman (2010), â€Å"I think that all human aspirations worthy of the name deserve respect and support, materially and immorally/intellectually†. I agree with Goodman when he talks about issues that affect all of us such as, genocide, terrorism, slavery, murder, and rape. Goodman article states genocide, famine and germ warfare, and I agree that murder is wrong because it destroys a human life. Killing someone for the sake of killing is morally wrong and destructive. Goodman states warfare no always being wrong. Goodman states â€Å"Warfare is not always wrong: it may be necessary to protect such subjects. Yet war is subject: Its dynamic too readily escapes control through the illusion that weapons are only tools and war itself just another device, the natural extension of diplomacy (Goodman, 2010). I agree with Goodman genocide as targets individuals as members of a group seeking to destroy a race, culture, and linguistic ethnic identity, or even class. Goodman discusses terrorism, hostages, and child war worriers. I agree with Goodman that terrorism is wrong and innocent people are injured or killed. Goo... ...l others arise, as if by deduction. But by the linkage does suggest a way of looking at (or looking for) key moral norms† (Goodman, 2010). Status Quo

Developing and retaining highly qualified teachers continues to be a critical need (Berry, 2004; Darling-Hammond & Sykes, 2003). As more teachers retire and school populations continue to grow, an increasing number of schools, universities, and states are implementing programs to ease induction, develop quality teachers, and inform educational practices. Therefore, many educators are now turning to action research to achieve these goals. The purpose of Grogan, Donaldson, & Simmons (2007) article Disrupting the Status Quo is to make an argument that unlike traditional research, action research encourages school personnel to systematically develop a question, gather data, and then analyze that data to improve their practice. The article addresses the key question to the appropriateness and relevance of educational leaders undertaking action research projects as the capstone of their doctoral studies (Grogan, Donaldson, & Simmons, 2007). The most important takeaway in this article is that traditional educational preparation programs and the hierarchical structure of public schools tend to perpetuate compliance and maintenance of the status quo. Furthermore, there is a need for transformative learning to help leaders deconstruct conformity to the many social and cultural canons, which have permeated U. S. schools to the detriment of our students. The authors believe that an action research dissertation and mentoring is an essential component in any educational leadership curriculum that aspires to foster the critical, reflective learning that is the hallmark of human and organizational transformation. Gilles & Cramer (2003) supports a combination of appropriate coursework and mentoring help new teachers transition quickly into solid, thoughtful, and strategic teachers. The key concept we need to understand is that action research and the fact that the Ed. D is a professional degree does not minimize the rigor or prestige in comparison to a Ph. D. Since the research, focus of an Ed. D is different from that of a Ph. D, action research focuses on generating knowledge that is workable, make sense, and is credible in more than one setting as opposed to acquiring knowledge for its own sake (Grogan, Donaldson, & Simmons, 2007). The main assumption that the author is making is that there has to be a change in order to transform the learning process. If we take this line of reasoning serious then there should be no kid left behind. The new generation of educational leaders will also have the tools needed to think critically, identify and solve problems facing their institution of higher learning.
